Men’ Sheds (or Sheds) are similar to garden sheds – a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending. The difference is that garden sheds and their activities are often solitary in nature while Men’s Sheds are the opposite. They’re about social connections and friendship building, avoiding isolation, improving mental health, sharing skills and knowledge, and of course a lot of laughter.

Female Friendly Bike Rides around Uckfield @ Proper Cycle Shop Uckfield
Oct 2 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

We ride on Saturday mornings from the rear of Proper cycle shop in Uckfield, starting at 9 O’clock, it’s a ride open to all, both ladies and gents. The ladies get to choose which cafe they want to go to (it’s all about the coffee and cake). It’s very much a social ride and definitely non drop. We ride as fast as the slowest rider but usually average a speed of around 13 mph depending on the amount of climbing (we always wait at the top of a hill if needed) and cover distances of between 25-45 miles depending on weather, ability and time of year. The group size varies between 5-12 people sometimes more.

If any anyone has a mechanical there is usually a willing person to assist, so all can ride with confidence that they wont be left stranded. In the event of a ride ending mechanical, the main group would continue but usually someone would stay with them until help arrives.

We welcome sensible people with road bikes. Helmets are compulsory and it’s a good idea to bring a spare inner tube and tools to change it in the case of a puncture.
