These rules are in place now and replace the previous tier system. It’s expected that this will remain in place until mid to late February.

In summary, you should only leave home under the following circumstances:
- For work, when you can’t work from home
- For essential shopping (for food and medical reasons)
- Once per day for exercise
- Caring for vulnerable people
- For medical appointments
- When your personal safety is under threat
Exercising in Uckfield and local area
Uckfield Town Council’s play areas remain open as per government guidance.
You can continue to exercise alone, with one additional person or with people from your household or support bubble. This should just be once per day and you should NOT travel outside your local area.
Sheffield Park and Garden remains open daily, visitor numbers are limited and you should pre-book online. The tea room and shop remain closed.
Schools and colleges in East Sussex
East Sussex County Council have confirmed schools and colleges in our area will teach online.
Some schools remain open for children who are vulnerable or when their parents/carers are key workers.
Local nurseries can stay open.
If you need to get tested, you can book this online (eligibility criteria applies for a free NHS test).
There is a drive through testing site at Plumpton Racecourse. There are walk through sites in Crowborough, Eastbourne and Brighton.
The attached document should help with information about the vaccine and the vaccination process. If you have questions, please refer to the NHS. It’s important to note that you’ll be contacted by the NHS when you’re eligible for the test.
Learning to drive
You can’t have driving lessons at the moment. You can practice with members of your household or support bubble as long as you’re making an essential journey. Usual rules around supervision and insurance still apply. Please refer to www.gov.uk for full details.
Support if you’re self isolating
If you’ve been contacted by Test and Trace, it’s a legal requirement that you self isolate. Wealden District Council can provide support to people on lower incomes who can’t work from home. Full details are on their website.
