COVID 19 New Lockdown – ends December 2nd

  • People are being told to stay at home unless they have a specific reason to leave, such as work which cannot be done from home and education
  • People are allowed to exercise outdoors alone, with their household or with one other person
  • Meeting indoors or in private gardens will not be allowed
  • Pubs, bars, restaurants and non-essential retail across the nation will close but takeaways and click-and-collect shopping can remain open
  • Construction sites and manufacturing workplaces can remain open
  • People are still allowed to form support bubbles
  • Children can move between homes if their parents are separated
  • Clinically vulnerable people are asked to be “especially careful” but people are not being asked to resume shielding

Crowborough Sewing Bees charity fund raising raffle

The Crowborough Sewing Bees are a group of ladies, who met in Lockdown during March and have been making masks and other garments with the proceeds going to various charities, at the moment they are supporting the Friends of Crowborough Hospital, they are holding a virtual raffle at the moment, which was planned to be drawn on the 21st November but likely to be drawn in December; full story and how to get involved on the guide

Chailey Repair Café reopen

As of 12/11/20 The Café are able to accept “drop off” repairs, all done on a voluntary basis all they ask is for a small donation towards the cafe and the cost of any parts, there are lots of talented repairers with the organisation offering a great community service, full story on the guide

Kit Wilson Trust virtual dog show

Former Strictly Come Dancing favourite Flavia Cacace-Mistry is taking her seat on the judge’s panel to help raise funds for the Kit Wilson Trust animal rescue, Together with fellow judges including actor John Iles from ITV’s The Bill fame and the first ever female Yeoman of the Tower of London Moira Campbell – Flavia will be judging the charity’s virtual dog show

Uckfield town council offices closed from 5th November

The Civic Centre Uckfield and Luxfords Restaurant along with Foresters Hall will be closing from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December in line with Government guidelines for the second lockdown.

East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service has dealt with numerous calls to crashed swans over the past week, It is that time of year when young swans are leaving their parents and flying around, but they are still wearing their L plates.  East Sussex WRAS is urging anyone who sees a swan crash land to call their local wildlife rescue as often these swans injure their keel or have very painful injuries which cannot be seen externally.  The full story is on our website on the guide

Uckfield Lions release Santa Sleigh dates subject to Lockdown restrictions

The Lions Santa will be on the streets of Uckfield, Maresfield and Five Ash Down again this December at a safe social distance, the story and dates are on the guide

Buxted Scouts will once again be selling Christmas Trees this year – extended until end of November

The trees are premium quality Nordmann firs which are beautiful non-drop trees with glossy green needles. The trees are sustainably grown in Sussex and will be freshly cut just before collection or delivery.

Order online at by 31st November, trees can then be collected from Buxted Scout Hut on Saturday 5th December, or delivery can be arranged to TN22 postcodes for a small charge. full story on the website

Coronavirus outreach box scheme restarts

The scheme which was run during lockdown to provide food to elderly, vulnerable etc has restarted owing to the rising amount of isolation cases, we featured the story back in the spring/summer and are pleased to support it again

Good News. The Lions Bookshop in Olives Yard will be open again from 2nd December with extended opening hours. 10am-4pm Tuesday, Thursday & Friday with Wednesday & Saturday remaining at 10am-1pm. Uckfield Theatre Guild Zoom Meetings 

Amateur dramatics group who have been performing musicals and pantos since 1995. For over 18 year olds. Whether you are interested in being a cast member, wardrobe assistant, back stage assistant, scenery artist, fundraiser or patron we would love to see you. Trial first rehearsal FREE so come along and have a try on us. Yearly membership £5 and currently weekly rehearsal fee £1. You are very welcome!
