In Saturday’s local football, it was a tough afternoon for AFC Uckfield Town, as they went down to a three-nil defeat at Saltdean, whose victory took them to the top of the Southern Combination Premier Division.
Uckfield are back in action tomorrow evening, when they host Roffey in the Sussex RUR Charity Cup. Kick-off at the Oaks is at 7.30 pm.
In the Mid Sussex League, there was an excellent result for Uckfield United, who won three-one at previously unbeaten league leaders Wivelsfield Green.
Ridgewood suffered a two-one home defeat by Peacehaven and Telscombe Reserves. Newick were three-one winners at Ardingly, while Fletching lost two-one at Lectern Lights. Buxted drew four-all at Hurstpierpoint. And there were plenty of goals too at Maresfield, where the home side won their cup game with Reigate Priory five-four.
Lewes moved up to third in the Isthmian Premier Division after a three-nil home win against Folkestone, there was disappointment for Brighton and Hove Albion, as they conceded two late goals to go down two-nil at Aston Villa.
Brighton’s Ladies team lost by the same scoreline at Reading. But there was a good win for Lewes’s Ladies, who beat Sheffield United three-one.
