Weekend Sporting Preview

AFC Uckfield Town will be looking for back-to-back wins this weekend

The Uckers entertain Broadbridge Heath in the Southern Combination League. In the Mid Sussex League, Ridgewood are at home to Roffey Development, while the in-form Uckfield United host Ditchling Reserves. Nutley have a home clash against DCK.  And there are also home fixtures this week for Fletching, who face Willingdon Reserves, and for Newick, who meet FC Sporting.

Buxted have a cup game at home to Hurstpierpoint.

In the Isthmian Premier Division, Lewes will be aiming to bounce back from Tuesday night’s defeat at East Thurrock, as they host mid-table Haringey Borough. There’s no game this weekend for Brighton and Hove Albion because of the international break.  Brighton’s ladies team are in action on Sunday afternoon, when they take on Leicester Ladies at the Amex Stadium in the Women’s Super League.  Also on Sunday afternoon, Lewes Ladies are at home to Coventry United in the Championship.

In rugby union, it’s the biggest game of the season so far for Uckfield, as they take their unbeaten record to local rivals East Grinstead, who sit top of the table with a 100 percent record after five matches. Newick take on Uckfield’s second team at Hempstead Fields.
