Fixtures this weekend were again badly disrupted by the wet weather.
Some of our main local teams made a start to their matches, before the rain halted play, including the game at the Victoria Ground, where Hailsham’s second team reached 172 for 2 against Uckfield Anderida.
Newick struggled to 86 for 9 against Chiddingly when heavy rain arrived. The games involving Isfield, Fletching and Maresfield were abandoned, and no play at all was possible for Buxted Park and Nutley.
In a match that was completed, Blackboys were beaten by Robertsbridge’s second eleven by three wickets.
In football, Brighton and Hove Albion ended their Premier League season with a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal.
The weather put paid to the Eastbourne Eagles return to speedway action for the first time since September 2019. Their scheduled season opener against Newcastle at the Arlington Stadium on Saturday evening was postponed because of a waterlogged track.
