The Cricket pitches were busy this sunny weekend !
In Saturday’s local cricket, there was a heavy defeat for Uckfield Anderida, who were skittled out for just 60 by Eastbourne’s third team at the Victoria Ground. The visitors eased their way to a ten-wicket victory inside ten overs.
There was also a crushing defeat for Maresfield, as they collapsed to 61 all out against Seaford’s second eleven, who made 258 for seven.
There was a good win for Buxted Park, for whom Will Rist made an unbeaten century in an eight-wicket victory at Hastings and St Leonards Priory’s second team. Isfield beat RMU by 50 runs, while Nutley had a three-wicket win at Tunbridge Wells’ fourth team. Newick had a narrow one-wicket defeat by Bexhill’s second eleven.
The weekend also saw defeats for Fletching, who lost by ten runs at Three Bridges seconds, and for Blackboys, who were beaten by Westfield by 156 runs.
Sussex’s county team came agonisingly close to batting out for a draw in their latest Championship match against Yorkshire at Headingly. Sussex’s last-wicket pair survived over 10 overs, before the hosts took the final wicket with 32 balls remaining to win by an innings and 30 runs.
