AFC Uckfield Town earned a creditable point from a one-all draw at high-riding Bexhill United.
After the home side took an early lead, Uckfield equalised before half-time through Luke Blewden. In the Mid Sussex League, Uckfield United continued their good run of form with a two-nil home win over Scaynes Hill Reserves. Elsewhere, Buxted drew two-all at Sovereign Saints. Maresfield were three-two winners over AFC Ringmer’s fourth team. Fletching were beaten two-nil at home to Ardingly.
The games involving Ridgewood, Newick and Nutley were all postponed.
Lewes were knocked out of the FA Trophy after a two-nil defeat at Bishops Stortford. In the Premier League, there was a brilliant comeback by Brighton and Hove Albion, who fought back from two-nil down at Liverpool to draw two-apiece.
There was disappointment for Brighton’s Ladies team, as they lost their Women’s FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal three-nil. There was also defeat for Lewes Ladies, who went down two-nil against Liverpool Ladies in the Championship.
In rugby union, Uckfield’s game against Hove’s second team was cancelled and for local horse racing fans, there’s a meeting at Plumpton this afternoon, with the first race due off at a quarter past one.
