Uckfield Lions in Lockdown

2020 was a very difficult year for Uckfield Lions – as with many charities three lockdowns were not easy.

At the start of the first lockdown in 2020, the Lions bookshop was closed, the Easter egg raffle was cancelled, and fund raising was curtailed, the next event to be cancelled was Lions day in June followed by the 10k fun run and then the Classic car Rally in September.

But fortunately with reserved funds Lions were still able to provide support to the following organisations;

Sussex Support Services, paying for Covid safe furniture
Age UK help with paying for a new bed for a patient
Kids Count Christmas bundles
Donations to Holy cross Church, during their tree festival
Uckfield food bank
Bridge Cottage, paying for the Christmas tree
258 Chocolate goody bags, for residents of sheltered accommodation, and Care homes around Uckfield.

The Lions mini bus has been used for assisting residents with Doctors and hospital appointments.

Recently several of Uckfield Lions members have been assisting in the car park at the Meads Doctors surgery, helping The Meads with their successful Covid 19 vaccination program.

A difficult but successful in different ways.

If you would like to help your community, by helping fund raising for local good causes, driving the mini bus, or volunteering in the bookshop once it’s open again, visit Uckfield Lions website https://e-clubhouse.org/sites/uckfield or contact membership@uckfield-lions.org.uk
