Oxted Viaduct (South of Oxted Station) is in the process of a major upgrade, Network Rail is working until April 2021.
The 140-year-old Oxted Viaduct, which carries two railway lines over the A25 road and the River Eden on the line running from South Croydon to Uckfield and East Grinstead has been undergoing a refurbishment programme since last summer, and trains are going to suffer from major disruption in March due to the work.
Network Rail (Infrastructure and system operator) said: “The work will keep passengers moving safely over the structure long into the future, work to repair and strengthen the steelwork, and replace the bearing on pier 2 of the structure will continue in March”.
Key dates for Uckfield Line users
Passengers travelling on Saturday 6 – Sunday 7, Saturday 13 – Sunday 14, and Saturday 20 – Sunday 21 March are advised to plan ahead and allow more time for their journeys.
Buses will replace trains between South Croydon and East Grinstead / Uckfield.
