One of our Presenters is taking on a Charity Bike Ride!
Mike Bonsor has been a presenter with us here at Uckfield FM for ten years now, so you may have heard him talking about some of his long cycles in the past.
He told our News Team “Well, I’m doing another one! Why am I doing it? Over the years, our family has had help from a variety of charities, this is in a small way maybe turning the support the other way. This is a long cycle, not sure how well it will go”.
Mike is attempting a ride 205 miles long. And in one day!. 205 miles in a day is a long way for a middle aged person to ride on a bike. Starting at 04:41 (sunrise) in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey and aiming to finish before 21:30 (sunset) at Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset, 205.5 miles! All the time the sun is in the sky, well with this summer, that may be wishful thinking.
Mike is recovering after surgery last year, and the furthest he has ridden since then was an 80 mile ride, so this is a step up. “I am hoping that you can help make it easier for me to stick in there and get to the end by sponsoring whichever charity you connect with. I will need that help”.
Mike has a JustGiving page (https://www.justgiving.com/team/CTS2021) you will be able to sponsor any of the following charities: MacMillan Cancer Support, Bowel Cancer UK, Dementia UK, The Stroke Association, Multiple Sclerosis Society and Cardiac Risk in the Young.
All these charities need support as recently charity fund raising has suffered through the pandemic. Mike’s last message !Help them to help others as they helped me and my family!.
We all wish Mike the best and hope he completes the challenge.
