Uckfield Bowls Club returns to action

In the lovely weather Bowling has resumed

Having missed the entire 2020 season as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, in common with most other sports clubs, Uckfield Bowls Club has at last been able to return to a fixture programme approaching normality, and players have relished being able to dust off their long-idle bowls and get back out on the bowling greens.

Of the three leagues in which Uckfield competes, the Horam & District League remains suspended for 2021, but matches normally in that league are being played as ‘friendly’ fixtures whenever possible.

The Mid Sussex League and its companion league the John Spriggs League are both proceeding as per normal.  Uckfield had a successful start in Division 1 of these leagues, with wins in both.  Of the total of the first 14 club matches played, Uckfield won ten and lost four, and Uckfield players have also been enjoying successes in external and county competitions.

During the ‘lost’ 2020 season and beyond, and subject to lockdowns and restrictions, club members were able to work not only on the refurbishment and maintenance of their bowling green, but also on the construction and fitting out of their new clubhouse, which is now nearing completion and with much improved facilities.-
