Speedway to re-start this weekend

Speedway is set to return after almost two years off.

Fans have not long to wait now until they see the Eastbourne Eagles in action after a break of more than 600 days; The last league action at Arlington Stadium was on September 28, 2019, and the boys are back on Saturday, May 22, when they take on Newcastle.

The 2020 season was wiped out by the Covid-19 pandemic and this year’s campaign is making a late start. Fans from Uckfield, Crowborough, Horam and surrounding villages will need to purchase a ticket online in advance for at least the first few meetings this year.

There is no on-the-day admission by cash or card at the stadium turnstiles.

The Eastbourne HG Aersopace Eagles race in the middle tier of British Speedway – the Championship. In addition, the club has a team – named the Seagulls – in the sport’s third tier, the National Development League.

Both teams are in action – facing their opposite numbers from Newcastle; the Diamonds and the Gems. Racing starts at 5pm but remember you must have a ticket bought in advance to attend.
