The driver who collided with a tractor after racing another vehicle at 120mph has been jailed for 16 months.
The man’s BMW crashed into a tractor at The Broyle, Ringmer in May 2020. The tractor driver was treated for serious facial injuries and temporary sight loss.
21 year old Harry Dennis from Maresfield – who was himself treated in hospital for serious injuries – showed at least 3mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system. The legal limit is 2mcg. He was also disqualified from driving for two years and eight months.
Investigations showed he had overtaken a Honda Civic and reached speeds of 120mph before he crashed into the tractor.
The Honda driver – who had left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services – was sentenced to four months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months and required to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work along with being subject to an electronic tag for three months.
