Despite the extreme heat this weekend several matches took place
In Saturday’s local cricket, there was an excellent win for Uckfield Anderida, who won at Mayfield’s third team by 58 runs. Replying to Uckfield’s 167 for six, the home side were bowled out for 109.
Buxted Park remain top of their division, thanks to a four-wicket win at Keymer and Hassocks. Elsewhere there was a thrilling victory for Newick, who chased down Bells Yew Green’s 305 for five to win by three wickets off the last ball of the match.
There was also a high-scoring game involving Isfield, for whom Huw Williams scored an unbeaten 175, as they narrowly failed to overturn Crowhurst Park’s 326 for one to lose by just 12 runs.
Nutley eased to a 125-run victory over Seaford’s third team, while Fletching lost by seven runs at Barcombe. There were also defeats for Maresfield, who went down by 130 runs against Firle, and for Blackboys, who were beaten by Selmeston and Alciston by 11 runs.
The Sussex Sharks made it back-to-back wins at the start of their T20 Blast campaign, following a convincing nine-wicket victory over local rivals Hampshire at the County Ground Hove on Saturday night.
