Local children invited to design stamps honouring heroes

The Royal Mail design competition will honour heroes of the pandemic.

Children aged between 4 and 14 are being invited to enter the competition to design one of 8 new commemorative stamps honouring heroes of the pandemic.

Eight winning designs will be sent to the Queen for approval before they’re printed, and there are also prizes available for both the individual child and their school.

Wealden MP Nus Ghani who said, “We have so many extraordinary Heroes in Wealden who have gone above and beyond and put their own lives at risk to help others. I had the pleasure of meeting some of them to express my gratitude in person and it would be wonderful if their invaluable contributions could be recognised and commemorated nationally. Our young designers may choose to illustrate NHS and social care staff, volunteers, teachers, supermarket workers, delivery drivers, perhaps even the scientists who created the vaccines or those who work hard to deliver them and save lives. If in doubt, visit my website to find inspiration in the Wealden Heroes stories.”

Entries need to be submitted by 28 May.
