Family Learning Days at Raystede

Looking for some family fun during the summer holidays? Become an animal expert with Raystede’s Family Learning Days.

As well as rescuing, rehoming and providing sanctuary, Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare is also committed to helping people learn about the animals in the charity’s care and how they can care for the pets they have at home. What better way to do this than together as a family?

Throughout the summer holidays, Raystede’s Education Team are running free Family Learning Days.

Starting from 28 July, every Wednesday and Thursday, families are invited to come to Raystede, collect an activity pack and follow the trail around the sanctuary, where they will encounter various challenges along the route.

With a different theme every fortnight, there’s always something new to discover.

Theme

The first theme is ‘Get to know the Raystede Residents’ where families will learn about some of the animals they’ll see, including Alex the parakeet, Frankie the goat and Churchill the tortoise, and what makes them special. Next up is ‘A Paw-Fect Match’ helping families discover what it takes to become a Raystede Rehomer and how the Rehoming Team goes about finding paw-fect pets for people.

Finally, there is Pet Playtime enabling families to find out what Raystede provides for the animals to give them a physical and mental challenge and how they might adapt these ideas for their own pets at home.

Families have to work together to solve the clues, take part in some activities along the way and of course there are prizes at the end! There’s a special discount in Raystede’s café as well for much-needed refreshments afterwards, plus a shop and free parking. All proceeds go towards caring for the animals at Raystede and donations are much appreciated.

Raystede’s Education Team are on hand throughout the day to help everyone learn more about animals and how to care for them, whilst having lots of fun along the way.

Entry is free, all visitors must book a ticket for a time slot but can stay as long as they like until the site closes at 4pm. Book today at www.raystede.org and make sure your family become animal experts this summer.

Gemma Price from the centre will be in conversation with Tony Williams on Friday 23rd July at 10:30.
