The minor Injury Unit has been closed since January to allow staff to be re-deployed.
Today though the Minor Injury Unit at Crowborough War Memorial Hospital will reopen
Kate Pilcher, Chief Operating Officer at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We know that Crowborough MIU is an important service and thank people for their patience during this temporary closure. It was always our intention to re-open the MIU as quickly as possible and I am delighted we are able to do that today.”
The unit is open from 8am until 8pm daily (every day except Christmas Day). X-ray is available from 9am to 4.15pm Monday to Friday, and is staffed by Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Specialist Care Practitioners supported by experienced Healthcare Assistants. They provide assessment and treatment of a wide range of minor injuries in both adults and children.
While the unit was closed, Uckfield Hospital were taking on the extra work to cover for them.
A spokesperson said: “We know the MIU is a valued and trusted service for communities in and around Crowborough. We’d like to thank members of the Crowborough community for their support and understanding during the temporary closure.”
