Community speedwatch looking for volunteers

Uckfield Town Council are working with the Police to set up Community Speedwatch schemes around Uckfield.

Community Speedwatch is a national initiative where communities work alongside local Police to monitor the speed of vehicles.

There is already a small group established in Ridgewood and the Town Council are looking for more volunteers in Uckfield. You’ll receive full training from Sussex Police and you’ll be supported by fellow volunteers meaning you won’t be at the roadside alone.

This is a role that can really make a difference by increasing public awareness of speed restrictions in our community. If you have some time to spare and are interested in volunteering, you can contact the Town Clerk by emailing or by calling 01825 762774.

When vehicles are found exceeding speed limits they are referred to the Police who will educate drivers to reduce their speeds. Enforcement and prosecution can follow when education is ignored or there is evidence of repeat offences.
