All change for Lions Christmas raffle

Uckfield and District Lions club have been running a Supermarket raffle in the now Waitrose store for over 40 years

For many years the first prize was a Supermarket dash, with the winner filling a trolley or trolleys with as many items as possible in two minutes around an empty store.

Uckfield Lions have been very fortunate in that all the companies trading from the store have supported the club in allowing the raffle to take place. Fine Fare Gateway, Somerfield, Co-op &and now of course Waitrose have all supported the fund raising over the years estimated to be between 70 to 80 thousand pounds over the years.

In more recent years the raffle was for shopping vouchers, with Health and Safety regulations putting a stop to the supermarket dash.

Since moving into Uckfield, Waitrose have generously supported the raffle by proving a voucher each year.

Uckfield Lions normally nominate a local charity to receive the profits from the raffle and this year the nominated charity is The Children’s Respite trust in Uckfield high street. www.crtcharity.org

Unfortunately with the Covid virus still around Lions have made the decision to hold the Raffle on-line this year, Prizes will be Waitrose vouchers as normal with First Prize £200 voucher.

Second £100 voucher.

Third prize £50 voucher.
