Uckfield are stepping up their efforts to combat climate change.

The town will be holding its first climate exhibition on April 30 next year, following the town council officially adopting a climate change policy this Monday.

The new policy commits to a variety of actions including reducing its carbon footprint for buildings and replacing fencing with hedging.

A housing plan for Five Ash Down has been refused following a vote from councillors yesterday.

Up to 39 homes were due to be built at the back of The Walled Garden but councillors refused the plan yesterday 6 to 4 votes.

The scale of the number of homes and the site location were both in the reason for refusal.

Uckfield’s festivities in the lead up to Christmas are continuing this weekend with a Spirit of Christmas tasting day held at South Brockwell’s Farm.

The event will take place on Saturday 11th December from 10am until 2pm, with a variety of locally produced craft ales, cider and gin.

Orders for Christmas can also be placed.

And finally, the latest summary of COVID cases show that 130 people in Wealden tested positive yesterday, bringing the total to 1,019 in the last seven days.
