Wealden retirement living lettings re-open

Wealden District Council are pleased to once again accept applications for letting to their retirement living courts.

The Council had to cease lettings on 23 March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During this time, stringent measures have been put in place to protect Council staff, residents and essential visitors. This includes the closure of all communal areas and guest rooms, increased cleaning of all touch surfaces, and provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to court managers. Residents and council staff, along with their families, have all had access to testing if required.

Councillor Ray Cade, Wealden Portfolio Holder for Housing and Benefits said: “It’s a real step forward that we can now re-open applications for letting in to our retirement living courts. Our officers have worked exceedingly hard in challenging circumstances to protect our residents from COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Together with the co-operation of our existing residents, we can be confident that our retirement living courts are as safe as they can be from Coronavirus.”

“As well as thanking our dedicated court managers, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our residents for their continued co-operation whilst safety measures have been put in place. We know it’s been a difficult time, but their diligence is paying off.”
