Ridgewood Village Hall management Committee are delighted to announce that Stage 1 of the refurb of the Village Hall will begin on 26th May 2020.
Karen Bedwell. – Chair of RVH said that after letting the immediate neighbours and hall users know that the refurb is about to begin we can finally announce that the refurb will start after May Bank Holiday. Originally set to start in July we have brought the date forward now the government have lifted the restrictions on the construction industry; to get the hall refurb completed as soon as possible so that we can get it up and running for all our local groups to continue once public buildings can reopen again.
The committee and local people have worked so hard to get us to this stage and it is so exciting. We will be creating two extra rooms for small groups to hire which can also be combined as a meeting room as well as refurbing the hall. New toilets and new entrance plus improving disabled access. Later in the year with the generosity of Taylor Wimpy we also hope to replace the kitchen. Once completed Uckfield Town Council will enlarge and resurface the car park. This is just stage one and we hope to continue raising money to add the planned extension in the future and a community garden.
There are so many people and businesses to thank for getting us to this stage and a full list will go up on our web site in due course, plus a book will be displayed at the hall to show how the community has really come together to get this project off of the ground. However, without the help and support of Chris Smith from 3d-architecture.co.uk who has drawn all the plans and David Spurrell from email@example.com who is our project manager; both giving of so much of their professional time voluntarily, we would not be where we are today and RVH cannot thank them enough.
The refurb will be completed by Eternal Build, and is expected to last 8-10weeks.
Karen said ‘in the midst of the challenging times that we find ourselves in, it is so nice to have some positive news to announce that will go on to benefit the community as a whole once we can return to a more normal way of life’. It will be more important than ever to have a village hall that can support community projects and support groups once the threat of Covid-19 has passed. We wish all our groups and hall users the very best and hope to see them back at the ‘new hall’ very soon.
We still need sponsorship for new items for the hall, plus someone to make us a new sign so if anyone would like to get involved please contact Karen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
