The new tree that was planted last year to replace the old tree on West Park is alive.
Concerns had been raised by West Park residents that the tree did not look well and the council had been informed.
Mark Francis – the Estates & Facilities Manager told the Environment and Leisure Committee that the tree has been examined, there is life under the bark and the leaves were last years which had not dropped.
The town council officials will monitor the tree and keep it watered during dry times.
The tree was planted by the Mayor Cllr. Spike Mayhew and Deputy Mayor Jackie Love on the 18th December.
