One of the highlights for many of us in the school calendar is Sports Day.
Lockdown put an end to schools’ plans for Sports Day 2020, but not to be deterred, the children at Holy Cross CEP School were invited to take part in a Home Sports Week event.
Designed by Olympics Team GB and ParalympicsGB, the activities were inclusive, and easy to set up around the home or garden so that everyone could take part. With four fun, active tasks to complete, the children were able to join together in shared activity, remotely at least, and we loved getting everyone’s photos and results sent in to us!
Our medal ceremony this year was certainly different, with social distancing outdoors for those medal winners now back in school… and even a doorstep delivery!
All the staff at Holy Cross are hugely looking forward to seeing all our children back in school in September. It’s been a challenging few months, but we’re proud of the work that we’ve done to keep the children connected with the school, through daily learning and our fun staff videos; and Home Sports Week has helped us to reach out to our school community once again, and remind ourselves that keeping active is good for both mind and body.
Roll on September!
