A woman from Hailsham has been fined for indirectly allowing household waste to be dumped on private land in the town.
The waste was found at Mill Road in August 2019.
35 year old Tracey Puttick was fined £40 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 along with £300 towards Wealden District Council’s costs.
Ms Puttick hadn’t carried out the Duty of Care to ensure household waste was correctly disposed of, she also hadn’t attended Council appointments or Court appearances.
Cllr Roy Galley, Wealden Cabinet member with responsibility for Waste Management said, ” Everyone who produces rubbish, from tradesmen to householders, has a legal duty to make sure their rubbish is disposed of in the correct manner.
If you are using someone else to take it away, you must only use registered Waste Carriers. We should all pay attention to this. Only by doing this will the amount of rubbish fly tipped in our beautiful District will be greatly reduced.”
