Good away win for the ‘Hummers’ at Keymer and Hassocks

Keymer & Hassocks 1-3 Uckfield United
Uckfield United got there season underway after last weeks upset with a well thought 1-3 away to Keymer & Hassocks who was unbeaten in 16 games!
Uckfield started the game fairly well and had plenty of possession without the killer instinct!! The home side then took the lead with counter attack and a well placed crossed met the centre forward who headed home, Joe Gardner in goal also pulling of some very good saves in both half’s!
Uckfield upped the tempo before half time and Chris Evans who was holding up the ball well found himself in the box and a clever turn saw him fouled for a penalty, Harrison Burley stepped up to calmly slot home to bring the side level at half time!
The second half saw Uckfield compete better and up there game to the next level and that brought a free kick that skipper Barry Squires whipped in to meet the head of Ben Ryder Richardson who sent a looping header some 12 yards out over the keeper for a brilliant goal to send the the hummers 2-1 up.
Manager Phil then made some changes that gave the team a lift with young 16 year Finn getting stuck in at right back, Adam Gooch being solid at left back.
The game was then to and throw, in the last few minutes with the home side committing the ‘hummers’ with James draper catching the home side on the break played in Sid Clean though to calmly slot home to give the team a well deserved away win with still gears to go up.
A positive step in the right direction for the Hummers while improvements can still be made. The result was enhanced with the fact that Uckfield had two players sin binned through out the game.
Man of the Match  – Harrison Burley with full commitment and leadership shown.
