In their first game for five weeks, there was disappointment for AFC Uckfield Town, as they went out of the FA Vase on Saturday, following a four-two defeat at home to Guildford City.
Morgan Vale gave Uckfield the lead after ten minutes, before the visitors equalised midway through the first half.
Guildford then scored three times in the second half, two of them penalties. George Cook scored a consolation goal for Uckfield two minutes from time, again from the penalty spot.
There was plenty of goals in the games involving our local team in the Mid Sussex League. Nutley drew four-all with Dormansland Rockets, and Maresfield also shared the points in a three-all draw at Scaynes Hill.
Elsewhere, Ridgewood had a good four-nil win at home to Reigate Priory.
Newick won by the same scoreline at Ringmer’s third team, Buxted were two-nil winners at Lindfield Reserves.
But there was defeat for Fletching, who went down five-two at AFC Hurst.
Meanwhile, Uckfield United’s scheduled home clash with Barcombe was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.
