Wealden District Council working toward an active future have your say

Wealden residents are invited to take part in a community consultation to help the Council shape future leisure provision in the District. The short survey seeks to identify resident physical activity needs and any impacts that COVID-19 may have had on their wellness routine, by understanding their current and future exercise patterns.

The online survey goes live on Wednesday 16 December and runs until Wednesday 10 February. To take part, go to the Wealden District Council website: https://www.wealden.gov.uk/consultations/wealden-community-leisure-review/

“The benefits of partaking in regular physical activity cannot be over exaggerated,” said Councillor Philip Lunn, Wealden Cabinet Member for Community and Public Health. “As with many other things, the COVID pandemic has affected how and where we are able to exercise with greater emphasis being placed on outdoor activity. We hope that the results of this survey will help us to develop a clear approach; providing effective and sustainable physical activity and sporting opportunities in Wealden for the next 25 years and beyond”.

The community consultation builds on previous work undertaken by WDC and forms part of the Council’s commitment to deliver Sport England’s Strategic Outcomes Planning Guidance (SOPG). Setting out the scope for future provision of physical activity in the District, the consultation will also feed into other areas of work including the Hailsham Aspires project.

The Council will continue its work with partner organisations to ensure that high quality leisure provision is easily accessible to all residents in Wealden; allowing everyone to be more active, more often.

Residents without online access can request a hard copy of the survey by calling Wealden District Council on 01323 443322.

The survey is also available in alternative languages, large print format and braille.
