In Saturday’s local football, it was a disappointing afternoon for AFC Uckfield Town, as they went down to a three-nil defeat by Crawley Down Gatwick in the Southern Combination League.
The home side took the lead after 19 minutes and then missed a penalty, before wrapping up the three points with two goals in injury time.
Uckfield have now slipped down to fifth place in the table.
In the Mid Sussex League, Ridgewood slumped to a five-one defeat at Ashurst Wood.
Uckfield United suffered a narrow two-one defeat at league leaders Barcombe, despite a battling performance, which saw them finish the match with nine men.
Newick had a good five-one win over Wivelsfield Green.
Nutley drew two-apiece with Ashurst Wood Reserves, while Fletching lost four-nil at Ditchling.
There were defeats also for Buxted, who lost three-one at Balcombe Reserves, and for Maresfield, who were beaten two-one at home to Keymer and Hassocks.
