Former Strictly Come Dancing favourite Flavia Cacace-Mistry is taking her seat on the judge’s panel to help raise funds for the Kit Wilson Trust animal rescue.
Together with fellow judges including actor John Iles from ITV’s The Bill fame and the first ever female Yeoman of the Tower of London Moira Campbell – Flavia will be judging the charity’s virtual dog show.
Like many other charities KWT’s fundraising efforts have badly affected by Covid 19.
Forced to cancel the annual sponsored dog walk in Ashdown Forest earlier this year the charity was keen to find something that would keep owners and their dogs safe, whilst still having fun and raising much needed funds for the hundreds of animals being cared for at KWT’s centre near Heathfield in East Sussex.
Collette Marshall, Manager of KWT said: “We’re really excited to be holding our first virtual dog show; simply by posting photos of their dogs on our special Facebook page and paying a £2 entry fee for each class – our brilliant supporters will be helping to ensure that we can continue to care for all the animals that come into our centre needing help and boost our upcoming Christmas Appeal”
Classes for the show include Best Rescue, Sweetest Puppy and the Dog the Judge would like to take home. Strictly star Flavia will be judging the prestigious Best in Show prize.
Flavia is a passionate supporter of animal welfare charities. Together with her husband Jimi she owns two cockapoos and is a qualified dog groomer!
Charity Trustee Tina Brandon said: “We are delighted that Flavia and the other patrons have agreed to be judges and bring a little extra sparkle to our show. COVID-19 has sadly seen the cancellation of dog shows up and down the country so we are hoping our virtual event will appeal to all those owners and canines who’ve missed out this year”.
Entries for the Dog Show are open now and will close on December 16 at 6pm. For more information go to Facebook Group – KWT Virtual Dog Show.
