Nearly 900 residents across the District have signed up to help generate and store clean energy from their homes
Wealden saw the highest number of people across East Sussex registering to take part in the Solar Together Sussex group-buying scheme to purchase solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage at reduced prices.
“The response to our first Solar Together scheme has been fantastic,” said Councillor Roy Galley, Wealden Cabinet member for Economic Development. “It is a big thumbs up for public commitment to our net-zero goals for carbon emissions. It shows how committed Wealden residents are to playing their part in reducing carbon emissions and combatting climate change.”
Solar Together Sussex is working with councils across East and West Sussex as well as in Brighton & Hove. As of 15 October, over 5,700 households had registered. The scheme is on track to save over 10,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
