The Uckfield & District Preservation Society (UDPS) charity shop re-opened on 15 June, and what a week!
A spokesperson told Uckfield FM:
‘280 bags of donations have been processed at Bridge Cottage. Books and puzzles always sell well, so we would welcome more of these, if you have them, please.
‘There were more than 500 visitors to the shop through the week, with sales at near record levels. Not only have customers been buying the good quality items donated, but also the upcycled items made by our volunteers. There are beautiful bags and other items that have been given a new life by skilled volunteers, and which are offered for sale under the ‘Uckfield Heritage’ banner.
‘Our thanks go to two groups of people; one is our customers, familiar faces (good to see you back) and new visitors (welcome) alike. The other is our dedicated team of volunteers – there have been 18 of them, including 5 new volunteers, working flat out this week to make all this happen. Thank you to all of you, and to our shop manager who has overseen everything.
‘Donations are still being received at Bridge Cottage between 10-00 and 2-00. All items are quarantined for 72 hours. We are happy to accept clothing, bric-a-brac, jewellery, puzzles and books – as noted above, these sell well.
‘Just a couple of caveats – sadly, we cannot accept items of furniture at the moment, and please do not leave items outside the shop or Bridge Cottage. If the donation times above are not convenient, please ring the charity shop on 01825 766958 to discuss possibilities’
The shop is open 10-00 to 4-00 – there’s something for everyone, and the Uckfield Heritage range is well worth a look.
