In the weekend’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town will be hoping to play their first home game at the Oaks for over two months, as they are due to host mid-table Steyning in the Southern Combination League.

Uckfield were in action last night – playing their second match in 48 hours, they were beaten one-nil at Peacehaven and Telscombe in the semi-final of the Sussex RUR Cup.

In tomorrow’s action in the Mid Sussex League – again weather permitting – Ridgewood visit Ashurst Wood.  Nutley are at home to Polegate Town, while Buxted entertain Lindfield Reserves.  There are also home fixtures this week for Fletching against Cuckfield Rangers Reserves and for Newick, who meet Hurstpierpoint Reserves.  Elsewhere, Maresfield are away at Willingdon’s third team.

In the Betvictor Premier Division, Lewes eased their relegation fears with a welcome win over Haringey in midweek, but they face a tough test tomorrow with a trip to third-placed Hornchurch.

The match in the Premier League between Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal was postponed late last night following another positive COVID-19 test in the Arsenal squad.

And finally, Uckfield rugby club are without a game this weekend.
