The Rotary Club of Uckfield on Saturday 25th January held what may be it’s last Seniors Winter Party in the Old Main Hall of the Uckfield College.
The day was mainly organised by Roger Linthwaite and Roy Thompson who were well supported by a large group of Rotary Club members ; partners and friends.
The logistics of organizing this are quite like a military operation. They are really grateful for the help given by many others Jems Cars and Private Hire; Uckfield Lions mini bus ; Chariots; The Uckfield College and Kim it’s helpful caretaker. Transport was arranged to and fro for many of the 100 plus guests.
The start time of around 14.00 when guests start arriving and Rotary member Rory O’connor’s student daughter’s and friends performed wonderful music whilst Tea starts to be served. Then a quick welcome from MC Clive Cooper and on to Deb’s dancers who performed a splendid show with a little help at the end by members of Uckfield Rotary Club who were determined to be future contestants in TVs Greatest Dancer !!!!.
Then it was time for plenty of sandwiches, sausage rolls, fantastic cakes and lots more tea or coffee. Next was Rosie Retro Rhythms-. with ideal music and jokes for everyone to join in with. The last event of the afternoon was a grand draw where most people in the room have bought tickets. The proceeds this year going to the local- Childrens Respite Trust.
Off safely some after negotiating the amazing new building work at the College with slight suddenness from some of the Seniors and Rotarians who used to attend the old College/ school which is to be demolished; no small task because of all the old asbestos.
Last but not least the clearing up which usual takes far less time than the setting up and to the lovely Ron Hill thank you for taking the photographs
