** Stop Press **  The design which won the bid to upgrade Luxford Field are was the one submitted by HAGS-SMP – as shown in the image below.

This year, Uckfield Town Council is planning to upgrade the equipment in Luxfords Play area adjacent to Luxfords Field. As part of the planning process, Uckfield residents are being asked to give their views on what they would like to see in the new play area.

On Saturday 8th Feb prospective suppliers were in attendance in the Weald Hall. Civic Centre Uckfield for the public to view and comment on. There was also a fantastic display of the local schoolchildren’s posters of their fantasy play area and ride.

Local primary schools were invited to take part in a competition as part of Uckfield Town Council’s public consultation on the planned upgrade of Luxfords Play Area. School children were asked to come up with their favourite theme for a play area, and asked to draw a fantasy ride or piece of equipment. The designs were great fun, with some real imagination.

The Uckfield Mayor Cllr. Spike Mayhew judged the winning posters from each school and an overall winner was selected, There were winners from Blackboys Primary School. Holy Cross Primary, Nutley Primary and due to a fantastic entry of over a 100 posters from St Philips Catholic Primary School 3 winners were selected from their entries.

The overall winner was Dylan Trigwell aged 8 from Manor School, Uckfield and the design will now be digitally brought to life by professional illustrator Glen Holman.

The Town Clerk Holly Goring spoke to Christine Skinner about the project:
