Southern Railway have announced there will be disruption on the Uckfield line this weekend.
On Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March, urgent track repairs will take place between Uckfield and Hurst Green.
As a result of this, there will be a reduced service between Uckfield and Hurst Green with some stations not being served.
The line is currently running as normal, however, emergency repairs to the line between Uckfield and Hurst Green will take place on Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March 2020.
Due to the recent severe weather, Southern have seen significant deterioration in the railway embankment near Edenbridge Town which means we need to close the Uckfield line this weekend to carry out emergency repairs. Southern apologise for the short notice; however, the work must be completed to prevent a major landslip and a longer closure of the railway.
Journey planners have been updated with the very limited service which will be in operation on Saturday, 29 February. Southern will update these again overnight for Sunday services.
We advise to, where possible, avoid travelling from stations on the route or to make alternative arrangements to travel to and from a station such as Tunbridge Wells, Haywards Heath or Lewes.
- A train service will run every 2 hours, running between Uckfield and Ashurst.
- Rail replacements will run between Eridge and Tunbridge Wells on an hourly basis.
- There is no direct service between Oxted and Ashurst, customers will need to travel via Tunbridge Wells or make different arrangements.
