In Saturday’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town let slip a two-goal lead at bottom club Loxwood to come away with only a point from a two-all draw.
Uckfield went ahead with a 15th minute penalty from Liam Baitup, before Ellis Cormack doubled the lead early in the second half. The home side then missed a penalty, before fighting back to score twice in the final 20 minutes, including grabbing the equaliser in stoppage time.
Uckfield are back on the road tomorrow evening, when they visit Horley for another Southern Combination League clash.
In the Mid Sussex League, Ridgewood beat local rivals Nutley three-one on the Uckfield Leisure Centre 3G pitch. Elsewhere, Buxted won three-nil at Lindfield Reserves in a cup match. All the other scheduled games involving our local teams were postponed.
In the Betvictor Premier Division, there was a good win for Lewes, who beat Bishops Stortford two-nil.
But, it was a disappointing afternoon for Brighton and Hove Albion, who went down to a two-nil defeat by second-placed Leicester at the Amex Stadium.
And in rugby union, Uckfield made it three wins out of four with a hard-fought 13-7 victory over Aylesford in difficult playing conditions at Hempstead Fields.
