In the weekend’s local football, AFC Uckfield Town’s scheduled home match with Saltdean in the Southern Combination League was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Oaks. Uckfield are due back at the Oaks tomorrow evening, when they host Crawley Down Gatwick. Kick-off there is at 7.45 pm.

In the Mid Sussex League, Fletching had a one-nil win at Ridgewood Reserves. Elsewhere, Newick beat Willingdon’s third team two-one, and Maresfield drew three-all with Eastbourne Athletic.

The matches involving Buxted, Nutley and Ridgewood’s first team were all postponed.

In the Bostik Premier League, Lewes’s play-off hopes suffered another setback, when they had to settle for a point from a goal-less draw at Brightlingsea Regent.

And, after a stirring comeback from two-nil down after 88 minutes, Brighton and Hove Albion are through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. They drew their quarter-final at Millwall two-all after extra-time, before going on to win a penalty shoot-out five-four. The Seagulls will now face Manchester City in next month’s semi-final at Wembley.

There was no game for Uckfield rugby club’s first team at the weekend.

And finally, there’s another National Hunt meeting at Plumpton this afternoon. The first race is due off at twenty past two.
