Uckfield FM Weekend Sports Preview

In tomorrow’s local football, there’s an attractive-looking game for seventh-placed AFC Uckfield Town, as they entertain fourth-in-the-table Newhaven in the Southern Combination League. Kick-off at the Oaks is at three pm.

In the Mid Sussex League, Buxted visit Hollington, whilst Newick are at home to Eastbourne Athletic.

There’s a crucial game for Lewes in the Bostik Premier League, as they go to fellow play-off contenders Leatherhead.

And Brighton and Hove Albion play the first of two vital home games over the next four days, which could go a long way to ensuring their Premier League survival. The Seagulls host an out-of-form Bournemouth at the Amex Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

In rugby union, Uckfield have the chance to complete a league and cup double tomorrow. Having already secured the Sussex Division One title, Uckfield take on Burgess Hill in the final of the Harveys of Sussex Shield. The match is being played at Hempstead Fields and kicks off at three o’clock.

After their season-opening victory last weekend, the Eastbourne Eagles speedway team will be looking to make it back-to-back wins tomorrow evening, when they host the Somerset Rebels in the Championship Shield. The meeting at the Arlington Stadium gets underway at 7.30.

In cricket, it’s the second day today of Sussex’s first away match of the new season at Durham. The home side will resume this morning on 210 for eight.

The Maresfield ladies’ tennis team face Roehampton on Sunday in their first home league match of the season. Play at the Maresfield Club starts at midday.
