Both Uckfield’s senior football and rugby clubs will be hoping to put last Saturday’s disappointing defeats behind them, with both teams having home fixtures this weekend.

After their FA Vase exit and their midweek draw at Shoreham, AFC Uckfield Town will now be looking to string a run of wins together to help them climb into the top half of the table, beginning with the visit of mid-table East Preston to the Oaks tomorrow afternoon.  Kick-off there is at 3 pm.

In the Mid Sussex League, Buxted are at home to Willingdon, whilst Nutley host Polegate Town and Ridgewood travel to Portslade Athletic.  Elsewhere, Fletching are away at Montpelier Villa’s third team, and there are also away matches this week for Maresfield, who go to Barcombe, and for Newick, who face Hurstpierpoint Reserves.

There’s another tough test for Lewes this weekend, as they visit Sussex rivals Worthing in the Bostik Premier League.

And there’s a mouth-watering game in prospect for Brighton and Hove Albion fans tomorrow afternoon, as the in-form Seagulls take on Premier League leaders Liverpool at the Amex Stadium.

In local rugby, Uckfield will be aiming to bounce back from their first defeat of the season last weekend with a home clash against Plumpton.  Kick-off at Hempstead Fields tomorrow is at two o’clock.

Meanwhile, Newick are at home to St Jacques Vikings.
