Having spent the last 3 weeks clearing, repairing the floor and setting out the workshop the Uckfield Men’s Shed is now ready to open on Tuesday 19th November at 10am at the Alma Arms, Framfield Road, Uckfield and, thereafter, every Tuesday and Thursday 10am-4pm.
What is a Men’s Shed?
Men’s Sheds (or Sheds) are similar to garden sheds – a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending. The difference is that garden sheds and their activities are often solitary in nature while Men’s Sheds are the opposite. They’re about social connections and friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge, and of course a lot of laughter.
The shed is open to anyone over 18 who needs something to fill their time and want to learn new skills in a friendly and sociable environment. The workshop has been set up for carpentry and model making although other activities could be added if required.
If you are interested in finding out more about the shed then please come along when we are open and meet us to see what we have to offer.
We are also looking to further equip the workshop and are looking for any surplus tools that may be of use to us.
