Uckfield Lions Celebrate 50 years of Serving the Communi

Uckfield Lions & around 90 guests enjoyed their 50th anniversary Charter dinner & dance at East Sussex National Hotel on Saturday 23rd February.

Guests included the Mayor of Uckfield, Spike Mayhew, District Governor, Pete Dilloway, past Uckfield Lion members, 13 past Uckfield Lions Presidents covering 20 years & Lion members from 15 other Lions Clubs. Uckfield Lion President, David Skinner MJF, welcomed all the guests & said it was a privilege to be President of Uckfield Lions during their 50th year.

Presentations were made by the District Governor. Chris Sherwood & the Uckfield Leos received a Certificate of Appreciation for their activities for promoting youth within our community. President David Skinner received a Diamond Centennial Award for increasing membership this year. Lynne Ireland received a District Governor’s Certificate of Appreciation for her continued support & work for District & in particular, her work in organising this year’s Arundel Convention.

Chris Macve received a 40 year service award. Graham Russell was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award for his work in fund raising & running the Lions bookshop.

The Uckfield Lions Club received a Certificate of Appreciation from the UK Lions Patron Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
