In Saturday’s local football, there was another eventful game for AFC Uckfield Town, as they fought back to earn a three-all draw at East Preston.
After trailing two-nil at the interval, Uckfield rallied after two goals from Callum Smith and one from Ryan Welch turned the game around midway through the second half. Uckfield were then reduced to ten men, before the hosts levelled the match at three apiece in the 77th minute. But Uckfield held on to end up with a creditable draw
Uckfield are back in action tomorrow evening, when they take on Saltdean at the Oaks.
In the Mid Sussex League, Ridgewood had a seven-one win over Ansty Sports and Social Club, while Newick won four-nil at Barcombe. Elsewhere, Nutley lost two-nil at Roffey Reserves.
Lewes’s hopes of reaching the play-offs in the Bostik Premier League suffered another setback, as they went down two-one at Haringey Borough.
And, Brighton and Hove Albion missed the chance to ease their relegation fears after a one-nil defeat by south coast rivals Southampton at the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls remain five points clear of the relegation zone and are next in action on Wednesday, when they visit Chelsea.
