Cyclists descended on Isenhurst, Uckfield Spin Studio on Saturday 26th January at midday to take part in a charity event to raise money for Pickerings Cancer walk-in centre, Tunbridge Wells (www.pickeringscancercentre.org.uk)
The event was over a 24-hour period cycling to music, watching films and more importantly having fun! Being led by Instructors, Deborah, Janet and Kevin.
Many cyclists took part and the energy in the studio was described as electrifying. It was so good many cyclists did not want to leave and came back the following day to try and grab a bike for another session.
Actual quote from one cyclist Lee “I am back, I could not sleep knowing you are all still cycling, I want to be part of this”
Many cupcakes were consumed which were specially baked for the event by Sprinkles and Swirls. (www.sprinklesandswirls.co.uk) The specials cake toppers were donated by Clever Little Cake Kits.
Flapjacks, bacon turnovers, Doughnuts, chocolate brownies and many other delights all baked by Lee, Emma, Carol and Janet.
A raffle was held and Harveys, Lewes (www.harveys.org.uk) donated 6 bottles of beer. This then gives the winner a choice of beer which Harveys will then donate a Keg of their choice. The winner of this prize was Gavin Whitton.
There were some participants who had never sat on a bike before. But it was the coming together as a team, helping each other pull through which was the heart of this event.
One of the organisers, Deborah Hughes said ‘Everyone who took part was truly inspirational’
