Rocks Park Primary School Uckfield 40th Anniversary

Rocks Park Primary School Uckfield welcomed pupils, parents and teachers, past and present, to a special assembly, BBQ picnic and exhibition last week to celebrate the official opening of the school in July 1979.

Headteacher Andy Best hosted the Golden Badge assembly where the children’s achievements in the classroom were celebrated.

Each year group had participated in a special 40th Anniversary project. There were trees and rivers made from poems, a 3D 40 with a letterbox for memories, two music videos, 40 years of children’s reading and a pictorial ‘When I grow up’ display from the new Reception Class.

An exhibition of photographs from Rocks Park School over the past 40 years was held in the main hall. Many of the photos were supplied by ex pupils and staff and were a source of much amusement to many of the visitors, some of whom had travelled from as far away as Leeds to visit their old school.

Outside on the field, visitors were treated to a free BBQ and a beautiful cake donated by Mr and Mrs Ireland. There was also the chance to see the stunning props made for this year’s winning entry into the Uckfield Carnival Children’s Parade together with the ‘Quadrophenia at 40’ entry from the evening parade.

Photos from the afternoon will be available soon on the school website at:
