Uckfield is moving towards a plastic free town by encouraging residents to use the Refill scheme and fill bottles from businesses who have signed up for the scheme.
The latest to join is the Uckfield Civic Centre. Other businesses in the town include Lansdown Health Store, Thyme for Food and Friends, Cafe 212 and Pipedreams. Costa Coffee is already in the scheme nationally.
Chairman of Refill Uckfield Martin Barnett said:
‘Refill Uckfield are pleased to announce the official launch of our scheme on Wednesday 19th June at 11am at the Civic Centre to coincide with National Refill Day. Refill Uckfield is part of the Plastic Free Uckfield campaign to reduce single-use plastic in our town’
‘Refill is a community based scheme organised by groups of people who are coordinating the Refill mission in their local area. There are now almost 200 schemes across the UK where local businesses will provide a refill for your water bottle. Get the Refill app to find a Refill stations near you. “Have you got the bottle”. We have recruited four Refill Station already and hope for a couple more before launch date. Join us at the Civic Centre on the 19th’
