The hugely popular HOLIDAY CLUB returned this Summer to Holy Cross Church Uckfield for another week of enormous fun with a BRILLIANT ‘BIG TOP’ Theme.
A week of Crafts, games, music, stories and so much more! Led by Fr John Wall dressed the part as The RingMaster and an incredible team of volunteers, this free holiday club is/was open to ANY primary age child (Current Reception to Year 6). Places were limited so you had to get in there fast! If last year’s ‘Space Academy’ was anything to go by, it is another fantastic week of fun!
This has been a busy week with the annual Holiday Club! Over 80 Children have been part of this fantastic outreach programme over the course of the week, offered free by the Church. The theme this year was the ‘Big Top’, a fantastic circus theme that saw songs such as ‘a million dreams’ and ‘roll on up, to the big top’ being sung with gusto, as well as a daily theme, such as The Strong Man, The Escape Artist and The Lion Tamer .
Children aged between 3 and 11 came along to enjoy the many activities on offer which included craft sessions where the children made Elephant puppets and lion masks, ‘catch Jonah’ toys, acrobats and SO much more as well as games and aerobics!!
The last day of Holiday Club was Friday and it was ‘party day’ with Jimmy the Juggling Jester visiting to give all the children an opportunity to enjoy his circus skills session and a massive game of Pass the Parcel.
The week finished on Sunday (4th August) at 10am when the ‘Holiday Club Big Top Open Doors Service’ – a very unconventional service, fronted once again by the wonderful Ringmaster Fr John and his team, which gave the children a chance to show the congregation, their families and friends everything they have learnt throughout the week – this was a very musical, interactive and hugely FUN service and everyone was welcome to come along and enjoy!
