Cantando Ensemble’s debut performance; “And So It Begins”

Cantando Ensemble’s debut performance; And So It Begins, took place on Monday evening at St Margaret’s Church in Buxted Park.

The newly established a capella group encouraged the audience to shake off that Monday feeling with their uplifting blend of voices.

The concert was an a capella journey through an eclectic programme of music, including a world premiere of a piece arranged specially for Cantando Ensemble. The programme included the aching and honest ‘And So It Goes’ by Billy Joel, arranged by Kirby Shaw, the delightful ‘Flower Duet’ from Léo Delibes’ opera, Lakmé, the hauntingly beautiful ‘Angel’ by Sarah Mclaughlin, arranged by Mac Huff, finishing with a wonderful harmonious performance of ‘‘Shenandoah’ a traditional American Folk Song arranged by Howard Helvey.

Cantando Ensemble brings together a set of unique individuals, women who want to share a passion and ability for singing a cappella, to participate in an organic, collective & emotional experience. Music not only enhances the lives of those performing it, but can inspire, uplift and transform those who listen to it. Cantando Ensemble seeks to raise the profile of different types of music within the community and help ignite a spark of passion for the love of music.
