Nutley 173 for 9 lost to Eastbourne 3rds 242 for 3
Nutley’s losing run continued with a heavy home defeat against a young but talented Eastbourne side.
Having elected to bat the visitors made a slow start before Tom Coomber (99no) and Sam Holder (54) found their feet and put their obvious coaching into practice by playing quality shots all around. The run rate slowed once Nutley picked up three wickets but Fraser Hicks (58no) also batted well to see Eastbourne to 242 for 3 with Coomber carrying his bat and unlucky not to reach a maiden century.
Nutley’s reply never really got going against the visitors equally well drilled bowlers as only Sean Fuller (21) and Mark Reed (20) made much headway before Alan Poulter (61) gave the score some respectability at 173 for 9. Hicks (3/26) was probably the pick of the bowlers, all of whom had respectable figures.
Nutley visit Ditchling next Saturday.
